Male P. perfiliewi s.l. is easily distinguished from the other Larroussious males by its characteristic parameral sheath (aedegus)with a transparent tip. This complex includes three members: P. perfiliewi , Phlebotomus galilaeus , and Phlebotomus transcaucasicus . The discrimination between the tree members mainly based on the parameral sheath (aedegus) is difficult. Therefore molecular diagnosis is recommended especially where these members distribute sympatrically.
