Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1894)

The stout spines are present at the basal part of meso and metathoracic setae in Ae. aegypti, Ae. albopictus, Ae. cretinus, Aedes koreicus and Ae. japonicus.

On Ae. albopictus caudal seta 4-X simple, while in Ae. aegypti and Ae. cretinus branched. Comb scales are stout on Ae. albopictus and Ae. cretinus, while on Ae. aegypti with median teeth.

Fringe of the pupal paddles bearing setae (as in Ae. (Stg.) cretinus). Larva and pupa of these 2 species can be misidentified around Cyprus, Georgia, Greece and Turkey.

This is an invasive species!
