Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762)
Type-loc: Malaysia

The stout spines are present at the basal part of meso and metathoracic setae in Ae. aegypti, Ae. albopictus, Ae. cretinus, Aedes koreicus and Ae. japonicus. The spines are particularly stout in Ae. aegypti. The comb scales are diagnostic.

On Ae. albopictus caudal seta 4-X simple, while in Ae. aegypti and Ae. cretinus branched. Comb scales are stout on Ae. albopictus and Ae. cretinus, while on Ae. aegypti with median teeth.

This is an invasive species!
