Phlebotomus killickii (F)

Phlebotomus killickii Dvorak, Votypka & Volf, 2015
Subgenus: Transphlebotomus Artemiev & Neronov, 1984

Female Transphlebotomus species are distinguished from the other subgenera by their characteristic pharyngeal armature consists of irregular teeth and their striated wide, straited spermathecal ducts. Specific discrimination within the subgenera mainly relies on the minor differences of the pharyngeal armature and the spermatheca. Molecular data might be needed for a robust identification where different species occur sympatrically.
