Phlebotomus arabicus (F)

Phlebotomus arabicus Theodor, 1953
Subgenus: Adlerius Nitzulescu, 1931

The female Adlerius species can easily be distinguished from the other subgenera by their characteristic triangular shaped pharyngeal armature. But no diagnostic morphological characters available for the discrimination between the females of Adlerius subgenus. For a robust identification, it is highly recommended to link the molecular data obtained for the male specimens with the data obtained for the female specimens.
