Please make sure you see the scales before you answer this question. Many Anopheles species have no scales on the tergite (5th state: none), hence the state "none" doesn't correspond to a damaged abdomen where the scales are fallen off.
This descriptor will be helpful if you are examining a black and silvery white mosquito (by selecting black or silvery white or both states). Other pale scales are considered as creamy white - yellowish in this identification key.
