Aedes caspius (Pallas, 1771)
Type-loc: Caspian Sea

Difficult to differentiate from Ae. dorsalis. Number of seta 1-S branches are more numerous in Ae. caspius (5 to 10) than in Ae. dorsalis (3 to 5) as well as for seta 3-VIII (7 to 14 for the Ae. caspius and 5 to 8 for Ae. dorsalis) have been proposed as diagnostic characters. Median tooth of comb scales seems more conspicuous than in Ae. dorsalis.
